DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY , TOURISM AND TRAVEL MANAGEMENT
History, Historicism and Historiography have knit together the past, present and the future. The department of History stands a witness to many a milestone crossed by civilization and by the institution. Initially taught as an ancillary to the students of Economics, the subject later was offered as a major to the IAS aspirants. The department also has to its credit the recognition given by UGC to have Tourism and Travel Management, as a Vocational subject prior to its becoming, a regular degree programme. Highly adaptable, the department has modified the course and has converted one batch into Tourism and Travel Management. The PG programme with its innovative syllabus is meant for the truly intelligent and seeker of challenges. An extension of the department finds its space in the recently introduced Masters programme in Human Rights and Duties Education. Ethiraj is the first ever college to introduce the course and to adapt itself to the global environment.

It is basically designed to bring about an understanding between TNSDA and the staff and the students to take up research activities and also provide a base for internship for the students during summer vacation.
